The half moon shape thrust washers that fit either side of the central bearing on my 1960 G9 crank have a groove machined into them.
Please could someone tell me if the crank should be re assembled with the grooves facing out from the centre bearing or in towards it?
Many thanks
JK

G9 crank thrust washers
Normally thrust washers have the grooves facing out (towards the thrust faces on the shaft)

I can confirm Johns advice that the oil grooves should face out on the half moon thrust washers when you re-assemble the engine. I have re-built my own 1960 G9 egine but could not remember so I looked it up in the workshop manual. This is or was available from the spares scheme and I would strongly recommend you should invest in a copy.
