Whilst rebuilding my K2F magneto from my G11 I noticed that the contact breaker leaf spring was making contact with the cam, thereby shorting out the points.
Surely this cannot be correct????

Course it's not correct, as you have found. The anchored end of the spring sometimes has an elongated hole, if you have this, push the spring towards the fixing screw while tightening. If this doesn't work try another set of points.

Thanks for the prompt answer. I was also 99% certain it was not right but the magneto was able to produce a spark even with the shorting contact breaker spring and no bearing insulators. It must have been like that since I bought the bike over a year ago! I wonder how it was working?

I have seen K2f mags working in what amounted to a bath of oil, the joke is if you tried to MAKE them work in it they never would........
