Advice please.
Rebuilding my G3LS after 23 years festering in the shed.(the bike not me, well come to think about it)
As last time the bike was on the road you struggled to buy unleaded I could do with some advice. Fuel addatives or replacement seats? your advice on which you recommend and good products and or cylinder head engineers will be most welcome.
Cheers

Neither.
Been loads on this here , done to death in fact.
Set your bike up right, and run it on ordinary unleaded.

Hi Neil
Welcome to the site!
Lock the door lads, he's young, a nuclear engineer but best of all his bike is a bitsa! All the best bikes are bitsa ones. In fact I won't ride anything else (unless its a Bonnie or has two wheels).
Don't worry about the petrol. I use super unleaded and over twenty thousand miles on my Bonnie there has been zero valve seat recession. I suspect ordinary unleaded would be exactly the same but am seduced by the petrol companies claims of higher mileage, better performance, thicker hair, more attractiveness to girls etc
Enjoy the bike. Wish I had one!

Oh those memories you have brought back Uncle Ken with the very mention of Dragons Blood, trying to find my way home, head spinning and that was only after one small bottle. They use to say it put lead in your pencil ,can you still buy it?

Im glad someone mentioned valve seats because mine are brass,--well one is but I cant remember which it is. Ive never ever seen brass seats before,--could be bronze,-- is this normal for British stuff?

Cheers Guys +Gals
You have gone some way to confirming my suspicion that valve seat mods and addatives to stop valve seat recession could well be a myth started by people selling these services.
Cheers Neil
