Probably something you would regret.
there is a reason why dual seats became so popular back inthe fifties .
A Necessary fitment on a rigid frame: On a sprung frame,?? side to side soggy, no room to move your RS, removes that feeling of being connected to the bike.
you always end up with the back frame under you,and it gets to hurt on a long run,and again there is nowhere to shift your butt to.
Still, if thats what you want........

I have a 1952 18S with saddle. I junked the dual seat as a. it was very short on this model, no real room for two people, and b. I found the riding position too low (I am 6 feet tall). With a saddle you have the opportunity to set the seat height more appropriate to your stature, I find that it is more comfortable, and (to my eye) looks better and more suited to the styling of the bike.
I think that a (good) saddle is very comfortable in touring mode. If you like to ride more aggressively then a dual seat may be better.

If you obtain a twin-seat be careful which one you buy. Don't know who makes them, but there is one version where the top is not parallel with the base, they look awful.

Its true that the 53 dual seat is a bit short for two up it maybe possible to get one for later year that looks similar or a specialist may make a 53 style seat longer for you as a special. The name Leighton comes from memory somewhere have a google for it.

The 54 spring frame has no fittings for a saddle. The saddle in the parts list is for a rigid frame. It can be done but it's a lot of work (friend of mine did it). I'd go for the twinseat. Dave.
