G80S Tire Pump

Post by Brian 54G80S »

Hi,
I have a 53 G80S.
I have found some NOS tire pumps with a parts number 213571. They are described as 13.5 inch mounting points. My G80S is 14 inch mounting points and the parts manual says the part number for a suitable pump is 017114.
Can anyone offer any clarification or advice on where I could look for a pump?

Regards

They don't do much when it comes to inflation and usually fall off! I have only had a pump onte one of my 5 singles over the years. That one had been cable tied to stop it falling off by the previous owner. Still fell off.

I agree with Clive, most fall off and are useless anyway. If you really want to fit one for aesthetic purposes, I’d make an approximation with different diameter tubing, aluminium end cap etc, particularly as very few people will actually know that it’s not original and if it does come adrift you won’t lose some unobtanium.

I usually carry, not attached to the Matchless but in with tools, a mini pump I bought in Lidl many years ago. It does inflate the tube / tyre but takes a bit of effort. Got me home more than once though.

I've been using a mountain bike pump from Crank Bothers for about 10 years but I've recently bought a Bosch Easypump which is great.

The slightly deformed one on my rigid rear chain guard measures 14.5", the club used to list them but I think sold out a while ago.

To my surprise, I actually have two pumps still fitted to bikes, neither actually pumps air but both have the same dimensions - listed below should you wish to make a facsimile:

Overall uncompressed length - 14.5" with valve connector removed (compressing to 14.25" on the bike with valve connector fitted).
Diameter of pump handle - 1" expanding to 1.125" over last 0.25" to close over pump body
Length of pump handle - 3.5" (valve connector removed)

Diameter of pump body - 0.875" (7/8")
Length of pump body - 11.875" (11 7/8") with last 1" being aluminium end cap of 1" diameter

Foot bracket - 4.75" in length fitted 0.25" from bottom of end cap.

NB these dimensions are for 14" mountings on the bike.
