Swingarm Tube/Pin

Post by KerryAJS »

Hello all,

Today's dilemma, replace old with new?

I was going to tackle swingarm job, I have new Bushings, a new Tube/Pin and my reamers. The old set up wasn't that bad, but the Tube was a bit corroded and I felt it might be safer to change it?

But, the new Tube is under size and not uniform, according to measurements!

Any ideas?

The pin should be 1" dia. If it isn't you should send it back. The pin won't usually go in the bushes until they are reamed to fit.

Thanks Dave

Old bushing still in, in the clip, and yes, new pin is less than an 1" in diameter.

Any idea where I buy a new pin with the correct diameter?

I may well be wrong but I have a misty memory that the pin for the Lightweights is smaller dia. than for the H/W. Maybe you have a L/W pin?

Where did you get the pin? Not much point in suggesting the same supplier to you if you did order the correct one.

Thanks Spriddler.

The Club Spares Shop supplied the pin and AMC Classic Spares is out of stock.

Dan they have been withdrawn due to this being brought to our attention. New pins are being ground as we speak, so hold fire and we'll replace the faulty one as soon as they arrive.

Many years ago my Twingle failed its MoT through wear on the swinging arm, on removing the tube I found that the tube was worn and a bit rusty on the”drive” end, I didn’t replace the bushes for when trying a new tube found there was no movement. Since then I have always oiled the swinging arm every 1000 miles to prevent this happening again,
