chrome plating welded items

Hi All, I am extending a pair of Honda pressed steel brake arms by welding a short extension to the end. The welder is extremely good and knows his stuff. I am wondering what the best finish for the final product. I would prefer a chrome finish, but with 3 different metals (Honda MS, weld filler and EN32b MS) and difficulties in getting a completely smooth join, which chrome can reveal, is it likely to be successful or should I go for a painted finish?
