Battery location?

Post by Dsrdave »

On my recently acquired 1925 E1 I can’t find where the battery should be located?? The brochure talks about an accumulator, I assume that would be the battery? I’m guessing it would have been placed in the side car ?? As I find nowhere it would have been on the bike. The wiring was removed at some point in the past so I can’t even trace that
Thanks in advance for any help and responses

I think that lighting was an optional extra in those days (and some still had acetylene lighting) so it may never have been fitted. You said that the wiring has been removed but just for clarification does the bike have any evidence of ever having lighting, e.g. the front and/or rear lamps?
It would be of help and general interest to see a photo of your bike.

I got myself a complete one of these for my K8, this one is missing the rods and pipe clip for the saddle tube above the gearbox..I'll take some pics and post them here.

These are the 2 types i have sourced.
The Lucas type with the 'enclosed ' strap also comes in a version for the BSA M20, these are an inch taller and the replica battery boxes are too short for them.
I had to buy a couple of scrap carriers to get the rear strap mounts to assemble the Lucas type. Both of these will mount to the saddle post and still miss the carb on my K8
