Looking for gear replacement

Post by BrianDowning »

I have a chipped third gear and would like to buy a replacement. I don't see it on the parts scheme. Part number is 044075. The only one I've found is in the US and they want $130!

Has anyone had any success having these repaired by a welder? I have a good welding company down the street luckily.

Regards,

Brian

You may be able to get one from AMC Classic Spares or Russell Motors.

I've never had to replace a gearbox gear but I believe that it's generally considered good practise to replace the mating one on the layshaft in case that too is damaged (which was all very well when the bikes were current and all spare parts available).

Thank you Spriddler. I checked both and it seems they don't have the part.

Roy, sent you an email.

Ebay 184900003354 Vale Onslow have them, You will have to place it in some white vinegar overnight to remove the surface rust but they are new and good. I bought one for the very same reason.
