Fork Oil for my 1941 G3l

Post by MrGoose2U »

Good evening all,

Total newbie here, bought my first classic bike at the weekend.

The Maintenance manual for the 1941 G3l states 10 HD Oil for the Forks.

THis post viewtopic.php?p=245190&hilit=fork+oil#p245190 suggests 20W

Searching I can't find 10 HD, so I am in the dark.

What Fork Oi should I use? SAE 20W or does the 10 HD translate to SAE 10W?

Sorry if these appear as daft questions.

Welcome, Gareth.
There are no daft questions; none of us was born with the knowledge. ;)

If you haven't found it there's the excellent MOD Inspection and Maintenance manual here which will tell you all you need to know about your bike:

http://archives.jampot.dk/book/Workshop ... ndards.pdf

Use 6 1/2 fl ozs of this in each leg...........

Available from Amazon (and some bike dealers).

Thank you soo much Spriddler.

I see that the slightly later bikes have the SAE measurement on them, so that is helpful :-)

Kind regards

Don't be mislead by the manual's issue date of Oct 1953 on the front page. It is merely the re-issue of the original 1941 MOD manual which is the correct one for your 1941 bike.
