Thread size on fuel tank taps

I am coating the inside of the tank to guard against rust and I'd like to plug the tap holes with bolts to ensure that the treads are not coated too. The Whitworth bolts I have do not have the fine threads that the taps have. Are they Whitworth and what size bolt would work?

Regards, Brian

From my experience, POR15 and similar tank coating preps carry on rusting underneath the coating, in a few years you will want rid of it. Best leave the tank bare metal inside and keep fuel in it. Clean the tank first with white vinegar if it is rusty / dirty and wash out with distilled water.
