North East Section Club Night on Thursday the 6th April 2023

Post by nomisimon »

We had a most enjoyable ‘Club Night’ at the Robin Hood on Thursday the 6th April as usual.

There were some new faces, whilst a few of our regulars haven’t yet emerged from hibernation. Luckily, although it was a bit nippy, two people made the trip on their bikes. Carl is a visitor to the section, and brought his very original and mostly unrestored 1955 AJS Model 20…a bike with 6v electrics, in the dark on the way home. Ken arrived on his even more original and totally unrestored 20 plate Vespa scooter…his classic bikes are still resting. He has 12v electrics and I understand he led the way home.

Peter recommended Eshott Airfield as a suitable destination and meeting point for a club trip on a warm, dry day. There is a café at the airfield which is ‘biker friendly’…you can sit and watch the goings on at the airfield if the weather isn’t too inclement. Check them out here: https://eshottairfield.com/cafe/

Also mentioned was Easter Egg Run happening at the weekend, it was a great success yesterday and the weather could not have been better. There’s more information at https://www.facebook.com/groups/4729610453791472 Hundreds of bikers take part in the Easter Run, which sees donated Easter Eggs being collected and delivered to children’s homes and hospital wards throughout the region.

Ken mentioned that there is a new Autojumble in the region, set up by the North East Restoration Club. It will be happening on the fourth Sunday of each month, and is to be held at 1 Wilden Road, Pattinson Industrial Estate, Washington, NE38 8QB…the flyer said ‘Patterson Industrial Estate’ but there is no such place. You can get more information from www.northeastrestorationclub.org.uk They are also on Facebook…just search for them.

Our next ‘Club Night’ is on Thursday the 4th May at 7pm in the Robin Hood…we look forward to seeing you then. In the meantime, may the fourth be with you ;)
