I don't know where the OP is, but having just got my 52 G80S running after 40 years dormant I too have a clutch rattle when the lever is pulled. In my case (and I suspect the OP's), it is a constant rattle when the clutch is disengaged..... sounds a bit like a Ducati dry clutch.
However, I noticed during the rebuild that my clutch basket was fairly badly worn, but I couldn't stretch to the £381.86 required for a new one.
So my thanks to Groily for setting my mind at rest!
