No hard hats or steele toe caps or corporate clothing, only gloves !!! The only modern thing is someone sat down looking at their phone.

Would have been like any number of factories in the Black Country in the 1950's and beyond for some of them.

I've been in places worse than that in the UK and you had to wind the telephone up,
how no one was killed every day I don't know.

From the number of tanks being produced, must have been for new bikes, not repair or restoration..

How is the seam around the base of the tank sealed?
There is a process going on from about 10 and half minutes, lots of sparks, what's happening there?

It's resistance seam welding, like spot spot welding but instead of point electrodes the wheels of the machine are the electrodes, through which a regular pulses of welding current are passed. It's very commonly used for welding fuel tanks.Joker_Bones wrote: ↑Sun Mar 05, 2023 6:40 pm How is the seam around the base of the tank sealed?

Ahhh... Thanks.
I imagine using that process determines the form of the tank, you need a continuous projecting seam without any sharp corners, as you see on Enfields and some modern bikes.
Doesn't look as good, IMO, as a tank built without the projecting seams but more economical I guess.
