Girling sidecar/uprated springs for an M31DL

Post by Greybeard »

Good evening, folks. Can anyone tell me whether AMC or Girling ever listed heavy duty springs for the Girling rear units. I fitted a pair of the new pattern ones to my bike after one of the originals failed but find them sagging a bit when two-up especially with any luggage aboard. I've discounted the idea of fitting spacers to pre-load them more for fear of the springs getting coil-bound and Im reluctant to offer Mr Hagon yet another arm and leg after buying one of their rear shocks for my R100RT BMW if there are other options (which dont include a family membership for Weight Watchers ;) )

this might help find another spring with higher rate
burton bikes did list some springs available separately, so lots of different springs were available

It may be worth speaking to NJB Shocks for some different rated springs http://njbshocks.co.uk/#top

There is a file on the Archive that has the spring stripe colours if you find some second hand ones http://archives.jampot.dk/technical/Sus ... rques_.pdf
