1930 M2

Post by norman_john »

Good afternoon,
I just bought a 1930 M2 this week so please bear with my questions! Firstly, is there any source at all of spares anywhere in the world? E.G the top nut on the oil pump is butchered? My go-to Stephen at AMC Classic Spares doesn't have hardly anything for pre-war.

Secondly, first gear seems irrelevant and when in third it seems quite under-geared. Has anyone here tried a couple of extra teeth on the gearbox final drive sprocket? From experience with previous bikes it will need at the very least two more teeth! What did you end up with to get to that sweet spot? (Thinking quietly to myself that my next questions might be about the brakes...)

Thanks and Happy New Year
John

Hi John, are you a member of the WD & Pre-war e-group https://ajsmatchless.groups.io/g/PrewarWDAJSM links are also on the main club page https://www.jampot.com/links_showall.as ... MC+Related. Often parts are manufactures and traded here.

You may have sidecar gearing have you compared your sprocket teeth numbers against the parts list/original specification?

Hi Duncan,
Thank for your reply - I just joined that group this afternoon.
I don't yet have any parts list or user manual, they should be here next week (I prefer hard copy where they are available). Yes I imagined it has sidecar gearing, but don't yet know what that is - do you know where I can find the specs?
Cheers
John
