feedback from Kevin is
I love it! Quite a bit of learning along the way. I should have just used the 21-21 engine sprocket. The hardest part is the primary chaincase.

Re: Electric Starter
Looks like I need to get some alloy casings as that appears to be a better route for maintaining an oil seal for the primary.

Re: Electric Starter
Does the alloy chaincase have the same engine to clutch centres as the pressed steel chaincase?

Re: Electric Starter
I don't have access to check but (if the engine and clutch sprockets are the same size on each model) would comparing the number of primary chain links for each provide a clue?spookefoote1956 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 2:18 pm Does the alloy chaincase have the same engine to clutch centres as the pressed steel chaincase?

Speaking from my point of view of ignorance , surely the cast aluminium case parts will be thicker than the original pressed steel case, so there must be other changes ...

Re: Electric Starter
the alloy cover does not locate the starter / gen unit . its bolted to the engine plates , so a tin cover could still be used with suitable shielding of chain

Re: Electric Starter
Reviewing the pictures it looks like a BSA chain case has been modified in this instance.
