And perhaps more importantly, no explosion while welding!

Tank refitted, refilled and didn't fall off on a wee jaunt this afternoon.

Also managed to get my rear brake light working a bit better today.

Thanks, there’s definitely bits that need tidying up but I don’t want ‘perfect’ anyway.

Well, got out for a decent run on the bike today and while the bike ran real nice the tank repair was a bit of a let down.

One bolt rattled itself loose and disappeared (I thought I had done them up tight enough to not need lockwiring), the welds broke on one of the tabs and I also discovered a weep from the seam at the front of the tunnel!

Think I might be as well to replace the tank...

Tough always annoying when it does not quite work out with a repair. I am currently struggling with a dynamo.

Have a look in the Model 18 section for a simple fix for worn tank threads...

Is that the M8 Fine pitch route? There are some such high tensile bolts at Boltworld. I'm going that route. Cobalt drill from Tracy Tools for a couple of quid to drill the hex head for wiring on; cheaper than titanium. But great idea Jeremy..

Final post,

"The M8 fines pitch bolts are still holding up well after 500 miles or so. A pleasing, simple solution as long as your existing threads are not really knackered, but are tired enough to not hold."

Given that I drilled mine out to 10.5mm or 11mm in order to fit the T nuts I think we can put file them firmly under "really knackered"!
