Yes, you can go to 4.00x18 and you will be OK, mine are Pirelli MT43. fit perfectly, you may have to adjust your chain guard a bit though.

Mt43 trials goes in?
Brilliant thank you.
Could you suggest other good off road mods?

New shocks, Renthal alloy bars, Amal alloy levers and alloy guards etc, you could put folding foot pegs but it would mean chopping up some original pegs, remove the rear pegs and centre stand, extend the side stand 2" if you have one. Alloy rims are nice too. I found that the original seat is very comfortable and on a 700 mile trip a few weeks ago it was a big benefit. You have to cut the rear part of the lower mudguard bracket and reposition the mounting tag too, see 3rd pic.

Thank you for the pics, all the mods make sense and look great.
I'll keep my rims standard at first to save money what rear shocks did you use?

The shocks are 410mm Betor MX shocks from http://motorcycleshockabsorbers.co.uk/trail-m.html I think they were about £120 or so, super helpful chap who runs it.
