Also, clean the jets in the ultrasonic as there maybe some crap in there. If in doubt buy some new jets.

Yebbut, (edit: not Neil) Nick said that it wasn't any better after fitting Thrifty Peter's carb which definitely didn't have any blockages.

(We seem to be going around in circles with this one).

Butyeah, I read it as Thrifty carb with Nicks jets needed Pilot to be all the way in then 1/8 out. Nick's carb gets tempted with the Pilot screw all the way in. So there must still be a blockage.

Anyway, everyone needs an ultrasonic bath big enough to get their bits in.

Sorry for the delay in replying as have been away.

Just had my carb off again and re blown, poked and prodded all holes again. I used a 15 Amp (0.020" diameter) fuse wire in the pilot body drilling. Reassembled, fitted and the same result persists.

The flue that I am using is ethanol free. The carb spacer is 3/4" tuffnell and is in very good condition. The "o" ring is fitted and I have applied a smear of RTV sealant to all faces.

So I am resigned to obtaining a size larger pilot jet.

Out of curiosity... Where do you get ethanol free fuel?

I understand that Esso E5 is, in fact, Ethanol free ..

I didn't know that... Esso's web site says their synergie 99 although labelled E5 is ethanol free except in some areas listed where it is 5%
