lighting woes

Hi all, i have just purchased a lovely 1961 CSR.
It arrived by carrier from scotland this week and all is good apart from when i depress the rear brake lever my front light come on too?? Any of you ever had this before. i was thinking bad earth but im not much good with sparky stuff. All ideas welcome!
