NHA 480 was a 1950 Smethwick reg. no. ( Not I of M. ) That changed to Birmingham ( Dudley )
They have registrations archived here https://dudleyci.co.uk/services/dudley- ... ory-centre

My 49 G80S may have known your AJS - its NHA458 and came from Copes of Smethwick in early 1950. Spookily close  If you google them there are pictures of the dealership out there.

Thanks for the replies.
I know that at some time this bike was sold to someone in the Isle of Man.
Interested in that part of the history, which is a missing link!
