Looks like a '37 G2 Clubman. (no wings on the 'M' until '38). Rob will know the exact model.

Spot on Dave.
DYM a Manchester reg. no. issued June to July 1937.
It is the very basic Matchless 250 OHV model G2 Clubman. having, what is most noticeable, all black tank, coil ignition, HP gearbox

Was the high level exhaust pipe an option with these models?

It was, an option, Eamonn. Chap in our section is currently restoring that exact model. He needs to sort out an exhaust but is torn between the two types - HL look nicest but the bike had a standard low level originally.

You need a heat resistant right thigh with the high level pipe!

Hi level pipes were an option on the G2 clubman. Hi level only were available for the G2/MC Clubman special which was mag ignition

I'll let him know, Rob, but I reckon if the only difference was the mag v coil a punter could have fitted what they liked ;)

It was a cost free option on the G2M (Magneto) but could be specified on the G2 (Coil) at an extra cost.
