I'am looking at buying a 39/26 350 , it runs well but there is some room in the big end . I have done a bit of searching parts lists etc and it looks like the 350 and 500 used the same big end . The club scheme list a big end for 40 on 350 but 37 on 500 and is Alpha No AMC6 , but according to the Alpha book the part no for the 350 is AMC5 . So the question is will the AMC6 big end fit , if not does anybody know what the difference is .

Peter. Pre-war isn't my thing at all but according to Alpha's website they're open so you could ask them what the difference is between the 5 and the 6.

It may only need a new set of rollers or an oversize set.

They're certainly open and respond to emails / calls. My crankshaft is with them now.

Thanks for the reply's , I had phoned Alpha and all I got from them was that they had got both and would be able to sort me out. I will have to wait and see what its like when I strip it down. I don't see why they list two when the parts books show it the same as the 500.

A part number will show all models it fits. If I remember right, parts lists do not list over size rollers and cage. Pt. No. would be the same, with over size dimension suffix.

Hi Peter, I just looked at the photo of your bike in the Photos section. Thats a nice project. Nice to see the horn in the correct position on the original casting (often missing). Can you post a photo of the other side?
Dave.

Life is so unfair, never find anything nice in barns around my neck of the woods, most of the thieving toe rags have broken into them already!!!! (No Duncan Moss, I'm not including myself in that statement!  )
