Has anyone put a larger gearbox sprocket on a Tempest Scrambler?
If so how many teeth larger 1 or 2?
Any ideas where to buy one, there are plenty of Lexmoto ones on the internet ranging from 14 to 17 teeth, would one fit?

Tony,
The reason that I asked was someone may have done it, looking at the pictures of various sprockets they're similar but some centres are different.
Not being tight just being careful.

Either size will be absolutely fine Diddley, as your bikes rarely seem to manage more than 200 yds before conking out. ;)

That was 2018 Spriddles, 2019 no problems.

Yeah, but it's 2020 Dudley!

Be aware that many modern bikes use electronics to calculate the road speed from the rotation speed of the gearbox sprocket. Go up 1 tooth and the speedo is often spot on accurate and the fuel injection computer still copes. 2 teeth and the speedo is way off and the fuel injection can't cope with the changed road speed/throttle position demands.

I would try 1 tooth first.

Speedometer runs from front wheel so wouldn't be affected, firstly find a suitable sprocket, hence the posting.

They only list the standard 14T front and 45T rear sprockets which are the same sizes that are fitted to the touring Tempest Roadster.
https://www.ajs-shop.co.uk/acatalog/Cha ... ets-2.html

How about calling them for advice, maybe it would be more practical to fit a smaller rear sprocket than the standard 45T one and then you could make less severe changes than with the 14T front?

Yes I had looked at the AJS website, which is why I asked the question Neville, as the engine is generic Yamaha there should be alternative sprockets available, just a matter of finding out to which bikes they were fitted. Much easier to change the front one than the rear.

Dudley have a look at Chinese Motorcycle Parts Online or CMPO for short and search for Lextek front sprocket 428-15t 156fmi or by model Huoniao HN125-4F they look very very similar to the sprocket on the AJS website.
