Bonding on new linings is a specialised job and you dont want to be on the bike if they come adrift as the bike will stop suddenly and you wont.
There are are several companies who will reline your existing shoes, I use one called Saftek who have proved quick and reliable. You can easily find their details on Google

I got the impression that Ian intended to rivet the new linings.
It's better to have them bonded and by a specialist who has the correct jigs and clamps.
Club spares offer an exchange service:

I got good quality exchange shoes from club spares. That's the route I'd try first.
For anything non-standard I'd recommend Saftek: http://www.saftek.co.uk/classics.html
They did an excellent job relining my front brake (Bridgestone 350 GTR).

i have tried many different linings, but have found saftek GREEN GRIPPER to be the best, always chamfer the leading edge, better still, get someone with a lath to turn them to fit if possible!

I broke a lining riveting one on. The lining did not quite match dia. of shoe. The lining cracked at a weak spot between CSK rivet holes. I ended up gluing them using nuts and bolts with washers, so lining held and in correct position for glue to cure. They did take a while to bed in. I chamfered both edges.

Some of the old linings contain asbestos. I believe now illegal to use, post etc.
