Cylinder Head Oil Metering Jets.

Post by JohnR »

Oil metering jets were discontinued on the twins in 1959 and reintroduced in 1961. I am condidering fitting to my 1959 G12. can anyone advise on the pro's and con's of such action. also would it help to have a "half way house" of say using a 1/16 metering hole rather than the 1/32. Has anyone else found that the metering jets as supplied by the club are too small in that they just drop into the head.

There is always the possibility the holes in the head are too big.

Hi Eric. I take your point, however the jets are too small for either of my pairs of heads, also local club members have experienced the same problem with a 1960 pair of heads and a 1962 pair.

John

My understanding is that the jets need the gentle application of a centre punch to swage them out slightly before being punched into place, perhaps an expert could explain better.
