Yes, that is more-or-less how it is currently set up but I do not have a paper gasket between spacer and manifold. Is this necessary? The spacer I have is about 1/8" thick and is like a gasket.

Sounds about right. Paper gasket ideal but not vital.

yes mine has the insulator spacer fitted too, she is running like a dream just now
