I've searched through the Forum for previous advice on this subject but can't find anything. I have a alternator stator which is covered in a mixture of oil, dust, grease and general detritus that needs cleaning before returning it to my G5. I'm reluctant to immerse it in engine cleaning fluid as it might damage the varnish on the windings. Has anyone got any ideas on how to safely clean it?

Alternator stator cleaning
Diesel oil or mineral spirits. After all, when running it is sprayed with hot oil. Cheers, Don.
