There is a reference in the '55 parts list for sure.

Where do these grommets fit you say? I have a Leighton's of Birmingham repro seat on my 56 G80 and it appears to have no provisions for fitting these grommets? Not that it seems to need them after nearly 20.000km, but nice to know, should a problem arise in this areas.

Just because parts are listed does not nessessarily mean they were always fitted. I have an unmolested 54 G80 and they are no grommets or any provision for them on or near the seat base.
