Steve, to keep things simple when I fitted my centre stand, I made a one piece bush out of a piece of 1/2" water pipe (just skimmed the O.D. a tad in the lathe to fit the leg eyes) I trimmed the length to JUST slip in between the frame rails. To take the place of the support shoulders of the original two bush's, I trimmed a piece of light gauge tube to firm fit in between the fork leg eyes the I.D. of which was just a little bigger than the one piece bush O.D.
Just fit bush and spacer in stand then hold assembly up in place while the stand through bolt is pushed in place...K.I.S.S.
