G12 crankshaft snapped
while trying to rectify a clutch problem, I was removing the crankshaft breather nut which holds on the rotar and engine sproket. I had the correct socket fitted over the nut and was levering it when the nut came away with the end of the crank shaft in it. Is this a common problem? where will I be able to source a new crank shaft the machine is a 1959 g12 they do not seem to be itemised in the Jampot spares book? Any advice would be most welcome, thanks.

Hi Billy
That is really bad luck and the first time I have ever heard of it happening. The cranks usually break on the journal, usually initiated by the oil hole drilling combined with incorrect radii from a regrind.
Tony Surbey and his son Steve at AMC Classics have a large selection and all ready to fit, reground and with shells to size. Nice people too. They advertise in Jampot. Don't take their last nodular, I might need it

Good job it gave way at that point, rather than when you were on the move.
Lawrence is your man for broken crank advice, he will even break them if you want, for a fee of course.
