I have no documents for the bike so will be very unlikely to reclaim the reg number sadly. Might try asking the question of DVLA anyway, once I've sorted out dating certificate and any other evidence I can find etc.

I believe that there are some registration records in various locations that weren't destroyed that may link the frame to the registration some people have had success with this approach but its a bit of a lottery. Perhaps those who have tried this route could comment on their success or failure.
