Secretary's notes

Post by Jules »

Section Club nights have been better attended the last sixth months; as well as the usual Mike Monk, Colin, John, Eddie and Mike Shone and Luky, we have a new regular attender at the Stepping Stones Paul Potter whose beautiful 1920s v twin AJS was on display last year at the Sunbeam Birthday celebration at the Brookland’s Museum. This week 24 .2 2025 at the Stepping Stones there was a new prospective member attending from Spain, Andrew Hill who has recently bought a AMC machine from a friend who is a SNOC member. Andrew is keen to attend the IJR in Skye with his new machine.
We had a double demonstration at the Tuesday club night with David Cooper dismantling and reassembling an AMC gear box and David Gibson assembling a Doll’s Head gear box; (this is an early Norton design based on an earlier Sturmey Archer gearbox.) manufactured by Burman. The demonstrations had the result of further discussions about which parts wear badly, how to make adjustments and modifications to make them run smoothly. The demonstrations encouraged members to ask questions and share their problems with current projects regarding gear boxes and adjusting clutches. At our Wednesday meeting at the Bull’s Head 25 .2.2025 we had five new visitors; including members who have not attended before: Martin Holmes and Jez Elliott who is also going to the Skye IJR, please all attend again soon.
Wednesday lunch time meetings continue to be weekly in the west of the county at the Foresters Arms Bagshot GU19 5DH and in the east a moving lunch club which you can join through a what’s app group if you attend the Tuesday meetings at the Stepping Stones. With the lengthening spring days and hopefully dryer weather members will start attending these weekly meetings on their bikes if you would like to join us.
