Cluless to Matchless

Post by ClulessToMatchless »

Brand New to this (probably tell from my Profile name hehehe),
I stupidly bought basically a Jigsaw Puzzle from a Friends Friend which comprised 2 boxes of brackets bolts and other Engine Bits and struggling to see what goes where?

I need help as I find myself holding back on buying items cos i am really unsure if am going to get the right part. Example i recently bought a Stator (OEM 043155 & Lucas OEM of - LU47149 - item is in stock with our supplier £106) only to find out its the wrong one. It fits BUT! the rotor is a smaller ID so the gap between Rotor and Stator are 3mm plus. Also its a 5 wire and i should be a 3wire?
I guess i need help finding out if i have a Matchless 250 Lightweight which is what am led to believe Engine number Says 60/G2CS so that's a 1960 bike BUT is it an AJS or Matchless?

Also Does anyone have any good blown up Schematics and parts lists for this bike?

Am willing to Exchange the Brand New Stator for hopefully an original Rotor and Stator (Will Pay Difference if needed Or take a loss as a lesson to do more homework)

You have a Matchless G2CS which in itself is a rare model. Downside is so are the parts and quite a few of what the club does stock won't fit a CS. Ideally you'll need help from an owner who actually has the same model be it AJS or Matchless as they're only badged differently. I know of1 such owner on my doorstep. I'll ask if he's willing to assist directly then get back to you.

@ajscomboman, that would be Brilliant thank you. Even an exploded view of the Frame and all parts would be good too. I have literally Dry fitted parts together and know am missing Rear foot pegs.

Typically there wouldn't be any rear foot pegs on a G2CS... you can fit them but you don't need to.

@John Jarrett, thank you makes Sense as it is supposed to be the scrambler version.

Another silly Question, is there supposed to be an oil tank on the left hand side for this model?

The oil tank is on the right hand side of the engine on a lightweight models including the scrambler... it holds very little oil and gets pretty hot.
