My '64 CS has the high/low beam switch on the handlebar and no option on the headlamp bowl, with only a limited number of wires entering the headlamp unit, how does one get the sidelight option, (need to road register) as I cannot get the sidelight on its own. How does everyone else do it?
Did find this online: A motorcycle (with or without a sidecar) fitted with a headlamp need not have a front position lamp. However, one must be fitted to the sidecar if a sidecar is fitted.' 2023 MOT manual, so I suppose I have answered my own question here then...

you could connect into the speedo light if you cant find the wire for the sidelight
The side light connection ( called parking light) is shown in diagram
if you have quick connect on headlight it should be there

Re: Side light with later G80CS no switch on headlamp
I appreciate you want a side light, but its not necessary for the road registration. I recently registered my G3CS and the requirement is that its is a complete motorcycle. Mine wiring was not connected at the time it was registered. I have a LiPo battery, total loss system with LEDs and a QD headlight with a switch.
