spitting

After changing the float and needle the fuel level is ok, but the engine is still spitting and the airintake becomes quit wet. Has anyone suggestion what it might cause?

Check the valve timing?

Has the carb been removed? Could air be getting into the flange?

However the timing is correct, I could give the inlet more clearance, see of this will give a change.
I don't think there is a leak at the manifold but I can put a special tape over the joints see of this is af any influence, thanks for the info guys.

I noticed a small hasitation in closing of the inlet valve while turning the crankshaft slowly, valve springs? The springs were within specs so I didn't renew them.

My M18S had a slightly bent valve stem. It was 0.010" out of true but was sticking in the guide.

I didn't check the valve stem, because all was new rebuild including grinding, but I'll check the rockers and valve

Is it just cold ? , or lean, have you set the mixture , or tried richening it up .
