New to me 1925 E1

Post by Dsrdave »

Thought I’d take a moment to introduce myself. I recently acquired a 1925 E1, it looks to be pretty complete. It’s probably beyond an oily rag preservation for my tastes. I’ll start a proper restoration soon after doing my research, I’ll probably have a lot of questions!! Being as I’m in the states there’s virtually no parts and limited knowledge here.
One question I have is about the headlight. It’s a 5” lucas bottom mount. I’m not sure if the lens retaining ring is supposed to be painted or plated and, there are no wires going to it. I assume there should be some sort of switch for it ?? I have none and curious as to what is the correct switch
Any information is appreciated!
Thank you, dave

The E1 in the National Motorcycle Museum had a headlamp with painted rim and the switch is on the back of the lamp.https://www.vintagebike.co.uk/pictures/ ... s-model-e1

1925 Lucas lights here:
