Hi there,
I have found an old photo of a family member on what looks to be an ajs. Just wondering if there is a way to find out the bike from reg ect. Will add a photo. The reg looks like KCJ567 or kcj587.
Thanks Steve

Well if you can post a photo, it's a favourite sport with folks here to identify bikes, and a very knowledgeable crowd they are too.

Hope the photo works, think it looks like and 18s 1952 Hereford number plate?

Certainly before 54 because single sided front hub. Tank badge 52 I think. Very difficult to say whether it's a model16or model 18 from photo. I tend toward a model 16 from the little of the varied that I can see.

Thanks for the reply, yes I think the reg is late 52. Ah interesting, are the 16 and 18 difference just a 350 and 500 or is there more?
Thanks

The 350 would have a slightly smaller exhaust pipe and silencer but it's so marginal you
cannot really tell from the photo. The real give away would be the barrel with the 500 bulging out closer to the magneto but unfortunately the photo is too dark in that area to tell.

Brightening the photo and I think is the 350 but it's a judgement call.
