Side stand

Post by MikeCrook »

Hi , any one know of a sidestand that would fit a 1955 g9 please,? all the ones I can find won't clear the exahust pipe.

Also what are the thoughts on tyre pressures ?
I have avon speedmaster front and rear I have tried 28 / 30 , 30/30 , 26/28 bike seems to be twitchy coming out of corners.

Thanks

I reckon modern tyres have softer and more flexible sidewalls, even avon speedmaster/safety mileage, and need slightly higher pressure. Having said that I run the tyres on my rigid at about these quoted figures (or even a bit lower 20f/22r) or the ride gets too unpleasant.

28 is the recommended PSI for the modern Speedmasters and SM tyres

Just as an aside, and maybe I haven't been looking closely but although I've been happy with the ribbed Speedmaster at the front I don't think I've seen one fitted on a rear wheel. Could that be the reason for the twitching?

Speedmaster is only recommended for front wheel fitting. If it is indeed fitted on the rear then I'd be bum twitching as well as the bike!
