Thanks Mick,
Regulator marked the same, yours looks like it’s a bit newer than mine! I had to clean about an inch of crud off mine to read the letters !

Steve

Re: Wiring from dynamo issue
Hi all,
Removed metal cap and insulator held in with screw. Voila, the plate is marked F (red) D ( black). So, now I can ensure, I hope, of correctly connecting dynamo wires. The brass bullet connectors look a bit oily and contaminated so a quick clean before reassembly.
Regards,
Steve

Hi
It's the old one 'tarted up' during restoration.

Re: Wiring from dynamo issue
Looks all present and correct Steve.
You could even change the colours of the wires if you're replacing/ cleaning the split sleeves that go in the sockets (if you wanted). Or just make a note / add a tag to the wires saying which is which.
Can't quite see from the pic, but might be worth checking the brushes have plenty of life while you are there, and giving the commutator a bit of a rub if it's mucky.
Next big Qs are 'Does it Work?' and then, 'Does the Regulator?'
Fingers crossed, and if necessary the testing info on eg matchlessclueless will be your friend.

Re: Wiring from dynamo issue
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the RB108 a 12 volt regulator?

I was going to say 'No' Harry, but thought 'best have a look see' before making an ass of self (just for a change). And indeed, see the links, there is a 12v version, labelled 'Holden' in the example above.
So Yes it is, and No it isn't! Call it 'Both'.
Hadn't seen the 12 Volt jobbie before, probably because too immersed in the bike side of Lucas . . . but the 6 Volt version was the successor to the MCR on loads of classic bikes, with its lid stuck shut to stop people like us getting in there and playing! Marked DEAF as in the pic, not FADE as on the earlier one. I suppose if one Fades, one goes Deaf in the end . . . .

Re: Wiring from dynamo issue
Hi again,
Double checked and it is 6 volt. Markings are DEAF.
