Hi guy’s,
Just need clarification on the correct gasket please. I believe it is part 025035 as in club site shop.
Please see attached photo of location ( chain case/crankcase ). Matchless G3LS 1955.
Thanks ,
Steve

Re: Correct gasket please
Hi Clive,
I was considering the same and using Hylomar blue. That seems to be the best I’ve used thus far. Just thought that the correct gasket might be better if I needed to take it apart again in the near future. Hylomar will probably make a better, oil tight, seal.
Thanks,
Steve

I did look at the 55 parts list and could not see a gasket listed, the paper one may have been introduced with the aluminium chaincase, someone here will know.

Hi Clive,
The 1955 parts list ( pictorial) as you say does not show one. That’s where the confusion came along. One certainly exists, the shop has them. Decision made, Hylomar it is.

pictorial does not usually include gaskets, but I could not see it in the listing either. Well worth looking at both as the pictures were not always correct, changed part numbers but same illustration.

Re: Correct gasket please
I've had a 55 G3 LS from almost new. No gasket on the chain case or sealant. I'm looking at your 3 fixing bolts with washers. Are they just washers? they should be pt. no. 000165 Locking Tab washers. The bolts would soon shake loose without the lock washers. I have seen results one of those small bolts coming out. Broken Dynamo chain and bent dynamo armature.

Re: Correct gasket please
Hi Rob,
The washers are standard spring washers. That’s what was there when I dismantled the parts.
Presumably the correct tab washers are available from the club shop?
Thanks,
Steve

hex head bolt 000440, as seen in your 55 parts list. ( Old pt. no. STD440 )
The first pic here showing the tab washer flat is from a WD parts list
If you intend getting the tab washers, they would not be much use to you without the correct The first pic here showing the tab washer flat is from a WD parts list
