Re: 1958 30CS Exhaust
Thanks for the replies guys.
Rob, Roy sent me a picture of such a pipe, but he thinks it may be home made.
It can go up/forward but it will be a bit of a mission unless it goes through the 'V' joint of the pipes.
Clive, There is just enough room to get the pipes through next to the engine plates.
Poul, There is nowhere near that much room on my bike

Yes Duncan, it is Glyptal https://www.frost.co.uk/glyptal-red-ena ... -us-quart/Duncan wrote:
Hi Peter, off at a tangent, is that an anti porosity red treatment/paint that you have used inside the timing cover?

Ray Woolford has sent me a pic of his, ex Saltbox Alf, 1960 31CSR oil pipe can clearly be seen.
Right, bending challenge on...... guess I'll have to bring some bitumen home to stop kinking.

I dont think forward is the way to go. Look again at my photo and the photo on the Coopers advert. Both go down and then round just below the timing cover. The Coopers advert is of a 58 30cs as supplied by the factory.

Yes it is not an easy job with these exhaust systems, the system on my bike is a stainless system from Armour, purchased in 1987, it is a easy fit but has a little kink over the footrest, and the short pipe has a wrong shape and can hit the front mudguard. I don,t`like a stainless exhaust, but the chromed system I got from Feked, was wrong and a poor quality, and was returned. So if someone can find a good and correct system, I would like to hear about it.

I did see that Clive, but there is no way the pipe can go on the engine pointing any way other than forwards/up. The ex pipe is directly under where the banjo fixes preventing downwards fitting. And obviously the bottom of the timing cover prevents it from going backwards.

Is this arrangement converse to installing an oil cooler?
Just an observation. JohnT

Yes I noticed that, my pipe sits higher than Poul's so won't work. Roy just sent me a picture of a bike he used to own that had an extension to the banjo.... that would work.clive wrote:Poul's goes down and then back too!
