1952 18s swingarm bushes

Just removed swingarm and alloy casting, to enable removal of sheared bolts for stand clip and powder coat arm.
I've used the search facility and realise I will probably have to get the tube pressed out.
I can see the bushes in the swingarm, are there bushes in the alloy bridge or is it a press fit?

It's a press fit in the alloy bridge piece. You can make a long drift with a spigot to fit the pin or make a draw bolt with large washers and some studding and nuts to pull it out. Bit of heat on the alloy will help.

I've changed a couple of pivot pins fairly recently. I used a length of 12mm studding and a piece of steel tube with a suitably sized socket and a large washer to draw the pin out. They weren't that tight and no heat was needed.

On a related issue, does anyone have a suggestion on how I can separate the bronze sintered inner from the outer part of the bush. The top hat shape of the bronze bush means I cant push against the ends of the outer. I'm loathed to try and hold the outer in a vice.

I did the other side correctly ! i.e. I pushed out the bronze first then pushed out the outer form the swing arm, learnt from my mistake !
1954 AJS 18S Cyprus export (frame decode says 1954 but many components match a 1955).

Thanks for the advice, managed to get it out but tube is badly pitted at on end, new bits required.
Was the alloy bridge originally painted?

Painted same as the frame.check you have the small studs for the main stand retaing spring.

Swingarm flew back together with new bushes and tube etc.
I take it the end plate with the filler screw goes on the r/h side?

Hi

Yes and I've set mine with the filler point at 09:00 to allow access past the oil lines.
