Re: Weekly quiz
Whoo-hoo! Not only did I get last week's answer correct, I'm top of the list, too.

Re: Weekly quiz
My petrol tap corks have never looked the colour of last week's quiz one.

Re: Weekly quiz
They would if you used a cork from a red wine bottle.
Confession time. I only know the answer to last week's quiz because Nellie has a petrol tap similar to the one that cork came from. When it was leaking I bought some new corks but thought I'd got the wrong ones because they didn't look like the ones I'd taken out. They didn't have the ridges in. How was I to know that I had to make them myself?

Re: Weekly quiz
I notice the part for this weeks quiz was not sold separately. That does depend on what parts list you are looking at.
There was a time when parts were sold separately, starting at circa 1936 ( note the cap was used earlier )
Starting 1936.
Complete assembly. S/13750-1 changed to 17350-1 ( almost same number that was cap only )
Cap only. S/17350 changed to, STD780
Screw. S/17258 changed to STD593 this ended up as 000593
Plate for screw. 17256 changed to STD781
Cork washer. STD 570 changed to STD580 this ended up as 000580
All a bit confusing from approx. 1936 to 1940. So no wonder they changed to complete assembly only, with just the cork washer ending up as the only separate part sold. I think club spares stock this as 000580, also complete assembly. You may even still find old stock under the separate old pt. no's. As I am sure they sold more complete assembly's than bits. The things usually come loose and you lost and had to replace the lot.

Re: Weekly quiz
Is it my computer
There's no correct answers showing on my screen for last weeks pic.
Or
Did no one actually get it correct
Not that it would be me I never get it right .

Re: Weekly quiz
I see I have now been running the quiz for 5 years and so after about 250 examples it's not surprising I am running a bit low on ideas for parts to photograph from a weird angle etc. If you can help please send them to quiz@jampot.com. Many thanks

Re: Weekly quiz
After 5 years, those rusty parts would have changed quite a bit, just photograph them again. Also at our age we can't remember what you have used before anyway.
