Can someone tell me if I can use the Norton gearbox overhaul instructions (1965 750cc Atlas) from Mick Hemmings(Classic Mechanics) to work on a 1959 G MATCHLESS gearbox?
Are these gearboxes identical?
Thanks in advance,
Didier

Re: AMC gearbox
The Kick start spring fixing will differ and the main shaft might be a different length
Or you could use one of these for reference:

Re: AMC gearbox
Here are some pictures that may also help you along the way, the instructions were not very clear about lining up the quadrant and stud and it took me a few tries to get it right. I also tried the method of locking the mainshaft with a chain, but the 'box just kept moving in the vice, so I tried another method of using a ring spanner and pieces of hard wire in the splines, which worked very well for me.
