1929 M5 side cover

Post by Angelo »

Picking up on a previous post of mine I came across a parts listing for a half cover which looks like mine. Was this a standard fitting in the M5 Sports? It has been suggested the M5 was a stripped down bike for the sporting rider.

My 1926 G8 had the 'half' guard. It was in a pretty well-worn state. The full cover was listed at that time for the de-luxe version. I managed to obtain a beautifully made new full case and rear guard from a chap in Hungary. Its slightly different in style to the one illustrated and not fitted yet as the bike is undergoing a very full restoration.

That's interesting and good to hear - I will stick with mine - it's perfect - I just thought it was incomplete but I like the idea it was the sports option 😀
