Hello from a new AJS Model 22 owner & advice please.

Post by Gino-Ant »

Good morning everyone!

I’ve just acquired a 1937 model 22 which I’m really looking forward to fettling. The bike’s not in bad condition, not entirely original but I’m very happy with it.
In preparation for future works and overhauls, is a particular manual / handbook recommended?
During lockdown, my project was a ‘47 M20, which has now covered quite a few trouble free miles, I gained an understanding of 40’s technology and should imagine the basics are similar?
My worst fear on the new bike is damaging something while trying to disassemble it, hidden grub screw etc.

Any help and advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Gino.

I am the clubs prewar officer. It would be a good idea to join the club. The first thing we really need to do is confirm what you have. You cannot post pictures on this forum if you are only a guest. You will need to know what non original parts you have are for which year / model.

1937 & 1938 are the same.

Thank you,
It’s very much appreciated!
I’ve joined the club now, I’m sure I’ll be asking more as things progress…and put some photos up when I take some.

Many thanks,
Gino
