Ajs M2 headers/collectors

Post by Hudriwudri »

Hello to everybody,

Given the fact that my exhaust headers are pretty much in potatoes chips state i was contemplating to either gladly buy some reasonably priced ones or try to bend some myself and weld em up.
I was told that supposedly some were or are still being made by some source.
Could anybody tell me the source and an approximate price tag?

Thanks a lot and have a nice weekend

I do not know what you are calling " headers" As you mention bending and welding, do you mean exhaust pipes.

I think "headers" means front pipe.

Hi Rob,

Yes with headers i basically ment the exhaust tubes going to the muffler.
Mine are as crispy as potatoes chips so in case I could find some nice reasonably priced preferably "raw steel" or nickel plated replacements it would be very cool.
As the bike is still in its (afaik) patinated original pre WW2 state i would be hesitant to mount something freshly chromed or stainless on my gem.

Kind greetings

You really need to use the name AMC give a part, in your parts list. This removes any problems of what it may be called else where in the world.

Hi Christian

You could try Armours https://www.armoursltd.co.uk/ they don't list one but they are worth a phone call. We needed a pair of pipes ( Headers ) for a Twenties Royal Enfield V Twin .They did not list them but had a pattern a made them for us.

Good morning,
This guy’s a few miles up the road from me and manufactures exhausts by hand.
He appears to turn out some decent work and has patterns for all sorts of vintage / antique machines.
Good luck!

Hello guys,

Thanks a lot for your support and sorry for the late reply as I'm trying to finish up some work duty before x-mas.
I will first most likely try myself to bend up some exhaust pipes as i basically have all the machinery to do so (so far i've been reluctant more for a lack of time ads I'm working on race heads in my spare time and still have quite some to do).

I should hopefully get the magneto sometime in January and from then on will focus on rebuilding some pipes.
Thank you very much for your very appreciated suggestions!

Seasons greetings
