help which model have i
i have one ajs 1930s and about to start building another , can anyone id what model it is from the engine number ? its a long term project and a lot of parts missing but i am unsure of the model , number is 38/22 4249 S . thankyou

It's an AJS 1938 250cc twinport. It would have had a magneto and twin high or low exhausts held onto the heads with radial finned clamps (not like a Triumph.) Unfortunately the 38 parts list isn't illustrated so isn't very helpful. Do a search on google to see what it looked like.

model 12 250 was coil ignition, looks like your engine is a mixture of models.

any idea as to what the "S" at the end of the number denotes ?
